A Lesser Yellowlegs foraging in a temporary pond alongside a county road in Eastern Colorado last spring. I sure wish we would get some snow soon as without it winter feels like a strange spring that lacks the birds and has short days.
I know what you mean. I hate snow, and am grateful we aren’t getting any, but I do notice how odd it looks and feels without it.
Here’s to snow for you and no snow for me!
Ooh, Mike, watch what you wish for! 😉 You might get a blizzard!
Great shot of this little fellow who looks quite intent in his search. Love the geometry of the angles.
Right now a blizzard would be just what the doctor ordered. Roads closed, no traffic, quiet…ahhh. Well a nice 5-6 inches over the weekend would do the trick as well. 🙂
Nice! I did not know the name of this bird. A lot of intensity in this photo. I heard on the news yesterday that 2014 is so far the warmest on record – I don’t know how far back records go but they seem to be saying it’s another notch for the global warming theme.
Yes no snow, after a cold spell in early November things have been warm, 65 today, and dry. We may get a dusting Sunday so I am keeping my fingers crossed.
This is a fantastic photo – I’d love to have seen it in person – but this photo certainly sets the tone for having been there.

Hi Melissa, I have always found snow to be the most fun when you can get out and play in it. 🙂
Wishing you a snowless weekend and one filled with fresh new stuff for me.

Hi, yes indeed this bird was intense and working hard. I would tend to agree with you on the data being provided on global warming.
