As we sat quietly waiting for a group of Waxwings to show up in the berry filled shrubs nearby this fine looking fellow strolled up to within 10 feet or so from us. He seemed not too worried about our presence and went about foraging as he made his way through the forest.

I found out only a few years ago that the pupil in deer eyes is a horizontal slit, not round like ours.

Thanks for such a clear photo of the deer’s eyes. All my life, I thought they were basically like my brown-eyed dogs’ eyes. Now, I see they are like goats’ eyes! How interesting!
