Breakfast of Champions

Oyster_catcher_5

We think Wheaties whereas Pacific Oyster Catchers prefer limpets. We have always had a hard time getting close enough to oyster catchers to get a really good photograph but this day low tide and the lure of a beach teaming with limpets must have outweighed their concern for our presence. There were two Oyster Catchers each going to town on the limpet population on this rocky beach. They would pry them up and them swallow them whole. A true breakfast of champions.

    1. Thanks and thanks for the feedback. Yes, we have tried for years and have only gotten mediocre photos good enough to personal enjoyment but crisp enough to make a good print. Hope your day is going well and you have a great week ahead.

    1. Thanks Simon, I really enjoyed being able to get a good view of those guys combing the beach and observing their technique for prying the limpets from the rocks that day. They are indeed remarkable birds. Hope you are having a great week so far.

    1. Alix, no worries. Looks to me like you just pushed the reblog button. In a way I should say thanks for passing it along to your followers as well. I hear you about working on the iPad vs a desktop. Have safe travels and most of all have a great time.
