On the way to Riddle Lake in Yellowstone National Park we spotted this sweet doe keeping an eye on us. After a quick hello, and without a second thought, we each went on our merry ways. Riddle Lake Yellowstone National Park.
Missing Yellowstone. Alas, we live too far away to frequent one of my favorite spaces. We do get to enjoy deer from our backyard, though. Cheers, Mike. Hope you’re having a great summer!
HI Shannon, Yes Yellowstone is quite a special place and I could probably and do, need to spend more time. Having deer in the years is a big plus, except for a garden, we only have squirrels which tis years are quite a chore with the havoc they are creating in our garden and to the tomatoes. Summer is going well.
Mischief-makers, is what we call them. I’m not sure if I’m more frustrated or entertained by squirrels. Probably equally both! We are seeing more and more deer in our yard with the disappearing habitat for urban development in Houston. So sad. π¦
Yes, nothing but mischief and around here the lack of predators seems to mean greater and greater populations. While walking to work on days there were 12 within eyesight in one of the local parks. Plenty of human food.
I guess your yard is the new habitat for the deer. It is very alarming how much space we are taking up and how much we are crowing out the other species we share the planet with.

Hi, I like that she is watchful but not over reactive in any way. Quite a lesson to be learned by that.

Isn’t she pretty. With ears like that, she can probably hear ants chewing!

That would be quite a sound…so many ants chew in unison.
