Finding food sure can be hard work. Which reminds it’s time to put out the feeder for these guys as winter is heading our way.

We were watching this Sparrow search intently through the gravel and forest debris and score with what appears to be a tasty little seed.

A bite well earned.

Great photo Mike, of a bird far too many of us just take for granted 🙂 This wee chap reminds me of ‘Morse’ (John Thaw) for some reason!

Great capture. I love the way you can really see the details of its eye, both iris and pupil. They say, ‘Eyes are the windows of the soul.’

  Thanks Eliza, I also like when I can get close enough to capture the eyes. Many birds have black feathers around their eyes and even when I get a good shot of them I always feel like something is wrong when I can not see the eye in the photo.

I have cats so I don’t put out a feeder, but I noticed the chickadees and nuthatches were going to town on the viburnum berries today.

  Just put the feeder out yesterday and while there are no nuthatches yet we did get a few chickadees and juncos. Not bad for the first day as it usually takes a few days for them to find the feeder.

      Very nice, we have a few Northern Flickers hanging around but other than those guys no woodpeckers close by.
