We rarely see nuthatches in our area so it was a pleasure to spot a red breasted nuthatch prowling a tree in our area. It is cool to see these guys walking head first down a tree looking for a meal.
Hi Eliza, glad to know these guys are somewhat elusive. When in western Colorado we see the white berated nuthatch somewhat frequently but the red breasted guys are a special treat.
I am a big fan of the rather shy and elusive Nuthtch too. A lovely shot and a classic pose :0)

I was just lucky to get a good photo of this guy as he was moving around quickly as well. Luckily he took a short break to soak up the sun.

We have a lot of those all year round. I like their nasal calls and upside down behavior.

Hi Jim, you are lucky to have these guys around and their nasal honk, honk, honk sure does bring a smile to my face every time I hear it.
