It is always a pleasure to see the Juncos come visit us in the winter. They bring some variety to the mix of birds in the neighborhood when most of the usual cast of characters has fled for the winter.
Hi and thanks for the feedback. We only see these guys in the winter around here in the warmer times they are usually up at higher altitudes and cooler climates. They are a pleasure to have around in the winter when many of the other birds have gone away.
Your welcome, we really enjoy being able to share what we see and are sure glad these guys are around to liven up the trees in the winter.Take care and have a great day.
Hi Kathy, they are quite a variety of these guys even within the rocky mountain region and the west. Do the ones in your neck of the woods have the yellow eyes?
Thanks Laura, we are jaunt happy to have these guys visit int eh winter and hang around long enough to get a good look. Hope you are having a great day.
Thanks LB, I am just happy that we have these guys around in the winter to liven things up and getting a good photo is just gravy. Hope your day goes well and have a great weekend.
Such a great close-up shot!

Excellent photo, lovely bird. Types of American sparrows aren’t they? Much more attractive though…

Yes these guys are sparrows but a bit more attractive as you noted. Maybe if the wind blow just right one will make there way over to you. 🙂

If we’re lucky, but I wouldn’t want the bird to be unlucky. Ah the moral thoughts I have. Bugger it, I’m off for a Jack Daniels…;-)

Well someone’s gotta have them, cheer and have a great evening/day.

I will never see a junco unless one hitches a ride on a ship to the UK. It is such a beautiful little bird and your photograph does it full justice.

Well you just never know, maybe one day one will end up in the UK?

Nice photo. The Juncos we get here in Georgia don’t have the brown patch. Nice to see what they look like in other parts of the country.
