A little Sand Piper gives me a wink and motions me to join in their morning yoga class on the beach. Although balancing on one leg proved not too difficult I fell flat on my face trying to hop away on one leg like these characters did when a rogue wave came up the beach just a little too far.

I wonder why they do that. What is gained?

If I remember my comparative physiology correctly it is to minimize heat loss. Less surface area without feathers exposed to the air.

I was intrigued by the slim shadows then I realised that it was the angle of the camera. 🙂

Hi Mary, the photo was also taken around winter solstice and the sun was low in the sty and the shadows long that day. Wishing you a great weekend.

Cute for sure and so confident in their ability to dodge a wave and do it all on one leg. Hope you are having a great day and thanks for the feedback as we really appreciate it.
