A female American Widegon enjoys the last of the late fall weather. In an area usually teaming with water fowl she was one of the only ducks left on the lake just hanging out quietly in a sheltered cove.

Pretty girl. I love how ducks always look like they are smiling, and I love hearing mallards laugh. What fun to have lots of different ducks around. Nice shot, Mike.

Hi and hope your new year is going well. It is fun to have several species visit in the winter and like you we love hearing the laughing of mallards on our local stream. It does always put a smile on our faces.
