My favourite bird, and such a lovely depiction of it. They are shy, choosing to feed on the ground, away from the pushier species, their song is equally inconspicuous, and their colouration is likewise restrained. I just adore these sweet sweet birds, and your photograph.
Hi and thanks. They are wonderful birds and when well observed those subtle colors and songs combine to create a symphony for the senses. We have a few who have learned to perch on bird feeders while the other (majority) forage beneath. I wonder if they have sent one member of the flock to knock seed and feed the rest. 🙂
Nice catchlight on this puffy little fellow!

HI Val, they are wonderful birds to have around but the great thing about birds is their variety and distribution across all landscapes.
