It is always fun to see species not common to where you live when you travel. Wonderful colors on this acorn woodpecker which was photographed along the coast in northern CA.

You are welcome, Mike š These past few weeks have been very good with plenty of warm sunshine. Very welcome after the prolonged winter. I hope your spring is warming up over there, too.

HI Pete, spring is advancing at a breakneck pace. Wildflowers appearing overnight and when you wake each day you can swear the leaves have grown inches overnight.

HI Pete, yes spring does seem to happen to fast and this year is happening way to fast to photograph and document properly. However that mean each day brings a new adventure and that’s OK with me.

I’m with Eliza – the woodpecker looks startled. I always wonder what all that tapping does to their brains. The picture is wonderful – the tree trunk, the bird and the background colours.
