Early one morning we spotted these White Faced Ibis resting on a local lake. Not a common sight around here and within a half hours after taking this photo they flew off. I have yet to see them on this lake again.

Well, then again, it’s fish for most meals if you are an osprey. This Osprey is enjoying their morning meal along the yellowstone river in paradise valley Montana. Click through for larger image.

We saw this guy sunning and recovering from yesterdays snow this morning. He was all puffed up and perched on the edge of a spruce catching early morning sun. He and his partner have been building a nest in that spruce. Hopefully this unusual May snow was only an inconvenience and did not harm the nest as we are not sure if eggs have been laid yet.

This years it seems all of our April showers have been of the snow variety but the leaves are finally making there way out of the buds and this sparrow seems to be quite content as well.

We can easily recognize that this has a boss…humans.
This panoramic pinhole is one of many versions of the same type of city scene I repeatedly photograph year after year always with a feeling of how unnatural and repulsive the scene of tangled wires and mid-seventies cityscape is. I always ask why? Why photograph this mess? Does this scene provide a needed contrast in my brain so that I can recognize the beauty provided by the natural world? Experience and modern research suggests that the power of what we call the natural world or nature is innate. It is time we stop believing there are two worlds, the natural and the man made, and realize they are one and the same. Get out and enjoy nature.

Morning light seen through the lens of a lensless camera?

Tree swallow taking a break from feeding. I got worn out just watching how much time and energy they were spending foraging for bugs over a pond and am always amazed at their ability to pull off high-speed ariel maneuvers to avoid mid-air collisions with each other.
