Singing in the rain
Well…not exactly rain, but this sparrow was belting out quite a tune on a cloudy and misty day near Point Reyes National Seashore, CA.
Great Blue
Great Blue Heron surveys the terrain from a nice perch above Leigh Lake in Grand Teton National Park. It always amazes me when I see just how long these guys legs are out of water.
Seed Battle
A Rosy Finch shoots a Sparrow an intimidating glare as they battle for spilt seed from a feeder.
Birds on a log.
Well not just any two birds. A mom Merganser and her lone chick. They were quietly sitting on this log as I paddled by in my kayak. I was able to snap a few pics before moving on in leigh lake GTNP.

Ghosts on the Pond
As the evening light was moving in a large group of Eared Grebes seemed almost ghostlike, not quite shadows or fully silhouetted but visible with just the slightest details present. Present but not fully. Taken at twilight on a quiet pond in the Arapahoe National Wildlife Refuge.
Flight
These swallows were busy foraging for dinner over lake John near Walden, CO. Watching them forage that evening was a lesson in flight itself.
A-dee-dee-dee
Nothing better in the morning that sitting with you cup of coffee and listening to the chikadees calling back and forth. This good looking bird was picking through the cattails and having a great time.
Clear Cut
This Coot was busy as a bee harvesting all the tender young growth from the tops of these plants on a local pond one afternoon. We watched him swim from plant to plant getting quite the meal.
Mission accomplished!
