Looking up

On January 18, 2018January 12, 2018 By Mike and Christy2 Comments

Soft pillows of snow resting on the branches above.

Look up and enjoy but not for too long.

Even on cloudy days

On January 17, 2018January 12, 2018 By Mike and Christy18 Comments

Always looking wonderful and always on the prowl even on a quiet cloudy afternoon. Great Blue Heron working a Lagoon off the Pacific Ocean.

Their myriad of colors is alway amazing but what always stuns me are those fully feathered big beefy legs.

Big trees and tiny birds

On January 16, 2018January 9, 2018 By Mike and Christy14 Comments

Up and down and up and down. These little birds never cease to amazing me with their constant motion and why do these little birds always choose such big trees?

Sketching

On January 15, 2018January 8, 2018 By Mike and Christy6 Comments

As we drove along the road with our phone camera pointed out the window on a very cold day it felt like the photos we were taking were more sketches and less photos. Not pen on paper but sketching nonetheless.

A cold days sketch, Wyoming, USA.

Iron Spring Creek near Black Sand Basin in Yellowstone National Park on a very, very, black and white day. So black and white that when you convert a photograph taken in color to BW you hardly notice a difference.

Dark Eyed Junco

On January 13, 2018January 8, 2018 By Mike and Christy12 Comments

One of our favorite winter visitors are the dark eyed Juncos. They always bring a bit of color to a cold snowy afternoon.

Wonder

Wonder.

Have a wonderful weekend.

At creeks edge

A fallen log stands over a creek.

Water flowing underneath a layer of frozen ice.

The sounds of winter are soft.

Thirsty

On January 10, 2018January 8, 2018 By Mike and Christy6 Comments

Maybe a common sight, but every drink is different.

The way the water droplets fall from the bill of this wonderful female Mallard brings endless possibilities for observation.

Without a sound

On January 9, 2018January 9, 2018 By Mike and Christy8 Comments

As silently as the sun comes up it goes down.
