Space. We all need it.
A common Yellowthroat hiding in the reeds. This guys was darting around from cattail to cattail for what seemed like eternity but finally held still for just a moment to allow us to take his portrait and get a good look. It is always tons of fun to be able to observe an bird not familiar to you. A little surprise that makes the day distinct.

Clouds above the marsh made for a scenic afternoon.

Almost but not quite. Red Winged Blackbirds are back in town but the shoulder badges on the males are not quite a vibrant red and the sky is still a bit grey and wintery this day. Almost, but not quite, spring is indeed in the air. I can hear this blackbird singing.

A mule deer makes good company while waiting for sun to warm things up in the early morning light and you don’t even have to share your coffee.
