There is always a landscape within the landscape and that’s a beautiful thing.

There is always a landscape within the landscape and that’s a beautiful thing.

Just the grass greening up in a landscape filled with sage and juniper. Quiet, perhaps the sounds of Meadowlarks and Sparrows singing, an unassuming landscape in a quiet place.

Yet upon closer inspection we were provided with quite a treat. Chocolate Lily – Fritillaria atropurpurea were hidden in theses still greening grasses.

Some were on full display and added a a wonderful splash of color and gave us quite a surprise on what we thought would be a unassuming walk through an early spring landscape.

It’s nice to have no assumptions.

Even with a precarious grip we can keep hanging on.

We all need just a wee bit of time to empty the bucket before it overflows and makes a mess on the floor.
A bit of time to let your brain drain of that endless stream of information you have taken. Information we cannot process or act on to slip away.
Just a few minutes to shut off the flow and open the drain.
Wishing you all a wonderful weekend.

A lone cottonwood stands tall in a valley larger than life. I bet this guy has seen it all.

As spring begins snow still blankets the landscape. Yet it is not mid-winter snow. Transformed by wind and sun and then the cold of night this was a day to wander along and enjoy the season before it’s gone.

Wind and sun and even more wind have given this snow covered hill a dune like quality.

On this day the wind blew strong yet the sun was warm as we made our way along the trail and softening the thin veil of clouds along the distant horizon line.

Streams began to flow some exposed and running free while others were still hidden beneath a blanket of snow.

A seasons long drift formed what we called the ear.
To end the day the wind bid us adieu while crossing a final open valley as spring begins yet winter remain.
Have a wonderful weekend.

A bit of frost and a sunny day makes a beautiful way to start the week.
Knock…knock…anybody home?
Happy Monday.

Sometimes it’s not so bad to have the sun in your eyes.

Solitude and quiet are gifts that keep on giving.
Happy Friday and may you have a weekend filled with both.
