A young Mule Deer with ears up and at the ready. There were people loading their gear just up the road at a trailhead and this deer was alert and ready to move if need be.

We all have our favorites. A steaming mug of hot chocolate, a nip from the flask and sometimes and ice cold beer sure hits the spot but today’s winter warmer features just a hint of orange from that big old ball of fire in the sky.

Frenemy….a person with whom one is friendly despite a fundamental dislike or rivalry.
Meet our new friend..a small Red Squirrel. Compared to the Grey Squirrels we are used to he is tiny yet just as feisty and shall I say squirrel like. Cute enough to be a friend but squirrel enough to be an enemy.
Only time will tell.
