A loungemaster if ever there was one.
Mid-day sun after a snowy and cold late March evening made for perfect lounging weather and this Coyote sure took advantage of it.

On a recent spring day we were treated to a nice dose of morning breath but not the icky kind.
Basking in the warmth of the morning sunlight an American Bison passes by and glances our way. A beautiful morning yet chilly enough we could still see the Bisons breath as they slowly meandered by.

Both the Bull and Cow Elk dotting the landscape enjoyed a little late morning nap on this early spring day.
If it weren’t for the extra cup of coffee we had this morning we would join right in.

The prior evening was snowy and cold, yet, as so often happens in March these Bighorn Sheep arose to find a sunny sky. So today they basked in the warmth and let out a big collective ahhhh!
And the Pronghorn did the same.

Watching and observing as early morning light breaks through the trees.
Observation seems a lost skill in a world where words now speak louder than action.

So much joy in such a small package.
A Crowned Woodnymph brightens the day. And we can all use just a smidgen of brightening to start this week off right.
Wishing you a wonderful week and one day at a time will be this week motto for us.

A young mule deer peeks out from behind a spruce tree to give the nearby shrub a little trim on a snowy March morning.
Wishing you a wonderful weekend.

Earlier this week we featured the Mountain Chickadee who by our accounting is the most prevalent species hanging around our neighborhood this winter. A close second, and perhaps on some days the most prevalent species, is the Red-Breasted Nuthatch. Sitting quietly in an old spruce this particular Nuthatch presented us a nice photo opportunity on a warm March afternoon. It won’t be long before they scatter to higher grounds and prepare for breeding season but until then we savor the opportunity to listen to their honk-honk-honk from the trees nearby.

Sometimes it’s not so bad to have the sun in your eyes.

Moving quietly as we skiied by a rusty red scene. The Bison, the tree, the willows all variations on a color theme. A rusty brown-red within fields filled of snow.
