Summer Sunset
A deep blue summer sunset on Shoshone Lake in Yellowstone National Park is just what the doctor ordered for a post holiday Tuesday morning in which inertia of a three day weekend wants to keep me at home instead heading off to work. The ball just gets rolling in one direction then you push it back in the other. Oh well, time to get off to the office and play my part in the game.
Broken Thumb
Within 5 minutes or so of passing by this big iceberg in our kayaks the obvious happened adding a bit more excitement to an already exciting day. Taken on a beautifuly sunny day in Sermilik Fjord, East Greenland.
Bronze
Even though storm clouds were lingering over the Front Range Foothills the sun delivered a warm farewell. A beautiful bronze sunset to end the day was like a slice of pie to end a meal. Have a great weekend.
Flight
These swallows were busy foraging for dinner over lake John near Walden, CO. Watching them forage that evening was a lesson in flight itself.
Water, Wind and Time
Water, wind and time playing with a cattail to alter its form.
A-dee-dee-dee
Nothing better in the morning that sitting with you cup of coffee and listening to the chikadees calling back and forth. This good looking bird was picking through the cattails and having a great time.
Sleepy Head
We saw this sleepy common nighthawk resting on a fence post in rural eastern Colorado one morning. He sure looked tired after a night out hunting so we snapped a quick photo and let him get back to bed.
Tired Pup
The summer heat and a big yard project has me feeling a bit like this pup that left its pen in the town of Tasiilaq and followed our group on a very long demanding hike. Near the end of the hike we had to negotiate a cliff band which left this pup with a long walk back to town in the other direction. Don’t worry he had a experienced older sibling along and I am sure they easily made it back, albeit a bit more tired than in the photo. Tasiilaq, East Greenland.
