Layers of blues and purples combine to give the appearance of black. There are so many colors in the color of a Raven and who would of thought that Black Feathers actually help keep Ravens cool.
A Raven quietly takes flight from a tree still teeming with life.
With the tips of a sage bush just poking above the snow a Raven endures the winter winds and cold while searching for the next meal.
From afar a black and white scene yet bursting with color the closer we got.

On an overcast afternoon a raven flies while we sit and watch earth bound and content. The Ravens calls rang loud and echoed far and wide across the landscape below. A moment in time that flew quickly by as smooth and swift as the ravens flight.
Looking not the least bit scruffy at all with clean beak and perfect feathers. This was one well kept Raven who was more than willing to pose for a a few photos as they enjoyed a sunny perch on a crisp autumn afternoon.
A boisterous and sociable Raven took some time to sit for a portrait.
With the afternoon sun exposing the brilliant purples and blues a Raven preens its feathers, and what beautiful feathers they are.
Fossil records suggest iridescent feathers have been around for awhile and I hope it stays that way.
