Just as we turned a corner while skiing on the Blacktail plateau we came across this guy having breakfast. We watched him for a minute but when he stomped his front hoof and gave us a grunt knew it was time for Quick U turn. We did not get to ski to our planned destination but it was a good day nonetheless.

More good news stories for 2019 this time from National Geographic in an article titled “Wildlife wins: 7 good-news stories from 2019“. The article begins with an all to often heard hours of
“Optimism can be in short supply when it comes to wildlife and conservation.
Going on describe several events that are disconcerting to those who consider conservation a worthy cause including the following events:
Masai giraffes were declared endangered, fires in the Amazon devastated jaguars, turtles, and other wildlife, and cheetah researchers accused of spying were sentenced to years in prison in Iran. Demand for wildlife and wildlife products—such as pet turtles, lion bone, and shatoosh, scarves made from the fleece of rare Tibetan antelopes—is thought to be on the rise”
Conversely and giving us a bit of hope the main focus of the article presents several key victories in the conservation of species and preservation of wildlife around the globe. Another article that both gives hope yet points that there is still no reason take pause in the fight for conservation of non-human life on the planet.
We saw this guy while out walking on cold foggy morning. He looks charming enough but a gut feeling told me to not get so close that he could wrap his frosty arms around you. I kept him at camera length and admired his beauty and thanked him for allowing us to take a photo.

On an overcast afternoon a raven flies while we sit and watch earth bound and content. The Ravens calls rang loud and echoed far and wide across the landscape below. A moment in time that flew quickly by as smooth and swift as the ravens flight.
Three big guys enjoying the golden grass and just laying low.
Maybe that is a cue for the weekend just lay low and kick back or, better yet, get outside a bit then kick back.
Have a wonderful weekend however you choose to spend it.
Looking like it just finished a meal this Red tailed Hawk was right back at it. Watching the fields intently for a mouse to stir and trying to make the most of the short days this time of year.
