Todays post is a tribute Christy’s father Vern who passed away last week at 87 years of age. Vern was a thoughtful and humble man with a deep respect for nature. Vern’s worked ceaselessly to make his yard a welcoming and comfortable place for the animals which inhabited the foothills outside of Denver, CO. These photos taken in his yard seem a fitting tribute to a great man who said much with few words.
An immature Bald Eagle waiting patiently for a meal to present itself along the Snake River in Teton National Park. It seems almost every time we kayak this stretch of the Snake River an eagle swoops down attempting to catch a fish. Having the camera ready is a different story.
A corn ear worm moth spending time with one of our favorite late bloomers in the area the Rabbit Brush plant. Love the beautiful yellows of this plant in bloom and it looks like the moth does as well.
Peeking at each other through the long fall grass and sagebrush in Yellowstone NP. I always marvel at how an animals fur matches their environment and the subtle changes that occur from place to place within a single species. This Coyote seem to perfectly match the sage and grass in which they live.
Perched upon a Coneflower full of Pollen this Bee is indeed on top of their world. Better hurry the flowers are going fast.
Getting beak to beak, so to speak, with a Raven on a windy afternoon in Yellowstone NP.
Fall is here and it is time to fatten up. This little Chipmunk was spending their afternoon scurrying about finding and then quickly scarfing down small little nibbles along side of the trail. Yellowstone National Park.
Photographing wildlife from a moving kayak is fun but the results are always uncertain due to the movement of the river and the subject. Luck happened to be on our side as we watched this elk in Grand Teton National Park.
This Yellow Headed Blackbird saw us out taking photos one afternoon and asked for a portrait to hang above the family nest. I was glad to oblige his request.
