On the way to Riddle Lake in Yellowstone National Park we spotted this sweet doe keeping an eye on us. After a quick hello, and without a second thought, we each went on our merry ways. Riddle Lake Yellowstone National Park.

Who’s Next?

Where_next

With the wildflowers full of summertime nectar a Hummingbird poses a question, a question other Hummingbirds would be happy to have, who’s next? So many flowers so little time. In a few weeks summer will be winding down in the high country. Rustlers Gulch trail near Crested Butte, CO.

Mighty Mink

While out at a local lake on our kayaks we were treated to a very unexpected sight…a mink hunting crawfish. This guy/gal was working the shoreline and caught at least two crawfish while we watched from out in the lake on our kayaks. We had no idea mink lived along the shores of this lake and have never seen one before. Another reminder that those little moments sure can make your day.

Red Necked Grebe

Red_necked_grebe_2

A Red Necked Grebe on her nest somewhere in Colorado. After we saw and photographed this Red Necked Grebe we did a little research and found out through the bird watching grapevine this was the first pair to have ever been reported to be nesting in Colorado. A week latter, in what must have been an attempt to provide this pair some privacy, all information about this pair on the aforementioned birding website had been removed. We hope their nesting was successful and they return again next year.

Ubiquitous?

Well maybe not but close. Everywhere I seem to go the American Robin is there with me. From the backyard to the forest and this day on the coast and finding a juicy meal in the seaweed to boot. West side of Vashon Island, WA.
