Mr. Mustache

The mustache is back in style. It seems like I always have photographed downey head woodpeckers from the side. Maybe because they are always busy doing what woodpeckers do..pecking. Head on it sure looks like this guy is sporting a fine stache and I really like the fuzzy feathers around his beak.
Warm-up

This guy/gal was happy to be soaking up the spring sun on a warm rock.
Roosting

Early one morning we spotted these White Faced Ibis resting on a local lake. Not a common sight around here and within a half hours after taking this photo they flew off. I have yet to see them on this lake again.
Fish for Breakfast

Well, then again, it’s fish for most meals if you are an osprey. This Osprey is enjoying their morning meal along the yellowstone river in paradise valley Montana. Click through for larger image.
Snowy Mourning

We saw this guy sunning and recovering from yesterdays snow this morning. He was all puffed up and perched on the edge of a spruce catching early morning sun. He and his partner have been building a nest in that spruce. Hopefully this unusual May snow was only an inconvenience and did not harm the nest as we are not sure if eggs have been laid yet.
First Green and Sparrow

This years it seems all of our April showers have been of the snow variety but the leaves are finally making there way out of the buds and this sparrow seems to be quite content as well.
Tree swallow

Tree swallow taking a break from feeding. I got worn out just watching how much time and energy they were spending foraging for bugs over a pond and am always amazed at their ability to pull off high-speed ariel maneuvers to avoid mid-air collisions with each other.
