A cinnamon teal pair searching the grass looking for the perfect nesting site. Many ducks were paired up and on the nest during our last visit to the Arapahoe National Wildlife Refuge.

A constantly moving little yellow warbler takes a moment to breathe and enjoy the fresh spring grass from a perch on an old downed log.

These guys seem to be buddies. In fact, more often than not, I see the Pelicans hanging with the cormorants on this island while kayaking at oxbow bend in Teton National Park.

At the edge of the many ponds brought about by the spring melt in North Park avocets were hanging out and feeding in the shallow water. It was a treat to see up to 5 or 6 in a single area. This photo was taken on a small pond in the Arapahoe National Wildlife Refuge. Does this make the Avocets Refugees?

We found a nice sized group of these guys feeding in shallows ponds created by the the recent rain and snowmelt in Northern Colorado. What a beautiful bird.

A female moose enjoying an early morning drink. This weekend we went out looking for migratory birds but, in addition, sighted several female moose in the flooded willows and streams of north park, including one that had just calved. Not bad for just being out on a Sunday drive.
