A little Pie Billed Grebe sitting content on the nest. They way they guys can just sink into the water instead of diving is just so cool.

Duck and Drake
A cinnamon teal pair searching the grass looking for the perfect nesting site. Many ducks were paired up and on the nest during our last visit to the Arapahoe National Wildlife Refuge.
Little Yellow Guy
A constantly moving little yellow warbler takes a moment to breathe and enjoy the fresh spring grass from a perch on an old downed log.
Someone to look up to.
These guys seem to be buddies. In fact, more often than not, I see the Pelicans hanging with the cormorants on this island while kayaking at oxbow bend in Teton National Park.
Acorn Woodpecker
It is always fun to see species not common to where you live when you travel. Wonderful colors on this acorn woodpecker which was photographed along the coast in northern CA.
Refugees?
At the edge of the many ponds brought about by the spring melt in North Park avocets were hanging out and feeding in the shallow water. It was a treat to see up to 5 or 6 in a single area. This photo was taken on a small pond in the Arapahoe National Wildlife Refuge. Does this make the Avocets Refugees?
Wilsons Phalarope
We found a nice sized group of these guys feeding in shallows ponds created by the the recent rain and snowmelt in Northern Colorado. What a beautiful bird.
Morning Drink
A female moose enjoying an early morning drink. This weekend we went out looking for migratory birds but, in addition, sighted several female moose in the flooded willows and streams of north park, including one that had just calved. Not bad for just being out on a Sunday drive.
Welcome Back
American Bison returns to his home on the grasslands helping to make the prairie ecosystem more complete. Rocky Mountain Arsenal National Wildlife Refuge.
Ravens, fog and rock
A pair of ravens having a chat on a foggy morning near Ucluelet, BC. They were probably discussing the pair of eagles in the trees above or maybe the grey whale swimming by below.
