Well Hello There
Nothing like a nice hello to get the day started and this morning a female mallard is saying hello to her friend on the pond. Monte Vista National Wildlife Refuge, Monte Vista, CO.

December Snow

Quiet morning on Clear Creek after an overnight snow. Photographed last Dec 9th. This December has been dry and warm. Just a little bit would be nice to get me in the holiday spirit.
Western Grebe
We hardly ever see Western Grebes on the ponds around here this time of year so this one must have been a bit of a straggler on their migration. I hope they got on track and found their way to warmer climates. Denver, CO.
Fall Bighorn
Hopefully this fall foliage did the trick and helped this little Bighorn Sheep put on a few pounds for the winter ahead. Near Gardiner, MT.

Finding food sure can be hard work. Which reminds it’s time to put out the feeder for these guys as winter is heading our way.
We were watching this Sparrow search intently through the gravel and forest debris and score with what appears to be a tasty little seed.
A bite well earned.
The time between.
Obscured by clouds and firmly in the southern sky it’s time to let go those summer dreams and do a little dance for the snow to fly. Early November always feels like a long wait for winter and an even longer wait for summer.
Farewell Good Friend
Winter is Still Hanging on.
Not physically, as the tulips are in bloom and windows in the house open during the days, but in my mind.
Each year as winter leaves I look back and desire one more ski through the forest or down a powder filled slope.
Yes, it is hard to say goodbye to a good friend but I can rest assured we will meet again.
nature has no boss
