Summer speeding up as water flows from snow above.
Thunderstorms loom and the sun shines bright as July is ushered in.

Last Sunday the wind was blowing hard but that did not deter these little Tree Swallows from spending their day looking for a suitable summer residence and it sure seemed like box 29 was high on their list of desirable homes.
The competition was high and words of caution we flying as freely as these swallows glide through the skies.
A quick resting spot on the roof was in order and acceptable to both shoppers at box 29.

A loungemaster if ever there was one.
Mid-day sun after a snowy and cold late March evening made for perfect lounging weather and this Coyote sure took advantage of it.

Sometimes it’s not so bad to have the sun in your eyes.

Moving quietly as we skiied by a rusty red scene. The Bison, the tree, the willows all variations on a color theme. A rusty brown-red within fields filled of snow.
We watched this Otter dry off on the ice and then quickly dive back into the water looking for fish on Yellowstone lake.
Another successful day out on the ice for this Otter.
For the next couple of weeks we will be posting some of our favorite posts from the past as we take a small respite from the digital world.

We tend to see more foxes prowling the snowfields of winter than we see each summer. Perhaps it’s the fact our daily schedules are compressed into a similar time period with the days being so short. It’s definitely easier to be out and about at dusk and dawn when the sun does not rise much before 7:30am. and sets at 5:00pm. That’s one good thing abut winter.

Another round of sun and steam to warm a winters day.

Happy Friday and have a wonderful weekend.

Standing behind the steam with sun above color filled the landscape.
With rusty orange…
and sometimes blue…
and often all of that and more with steam and sun in front and color all around.

Just as we turned a corner while skiing on the Blacktail plateau we came across this guy having breakfast. We watched him for a minute but when he stomped his front hoof and gave us a grunt knew it was time for Quick U turn. We did not get to ski to our planned destination but it was a good day nonetheless.
