Seeking solitude

Solitude and quiet are gifts that keep on giving.
Happy Friday and may you have a weekend filled with both.
Ice Fishing
We watched this Otter dry off on the ice and then quickly dive back into the water looking for fish on Yellowstone lake.
Another successful day out on the ice for this Otter.

Sunrise, Fog and Pines
The morning sun rising above the steam, fog and lodgepole pines on a very cold morning in Yellowstone National Park. Photographed on the fly while heading towards the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone using a phone.

Sunset at Upper Geyser Basin
It is hard to believe but when we started this walk in the early evening it was snowing like crazy so we decided to leave the good camera inside for a change and just to out and enjoy the snowy weather. Low and behold near the end of the walk it cleared a bit and we were reward with a wonderful show. As the sun went over the hill west of upper geyser basin it light up the clouds in the eastern sky which then reflected into the geyser pools. Glad we still had our phones in our pockets. One winter morning

We tend to see more foxes prowling the snowfields of winter than we see each summer. Perhaps it’s the fact our daily schedules are compressed into a similar time period with the days being so short. It’s definitely easier to be out and about at dusk and dawn when the sun does not rise much before 7:30am. and sets at 5:00pm. That’s one good thing abut winter.
