Awhile back we spent the morning trying to photograph a large group of swallows feeding on a pond. They were buzzing back and forth and getting good shots was quite a chore. Although nothing in this photo is in perfect focus it really represents the feel of being in that large group of feeding swallows trying to get a photo.
One of my favorite birds! What state was this taken in? Are they migrating now? When I see them around here, I know it is spring!

Eliza, this photo was from western Colorado but it was last spring around the first of april. I did hear the flickers rattling away on some metal objects in my neighborhood this morning which is something I equate with springs arrival here in Denver.

You get the sense of spring, and briefly still birds. The black and white lets you assign to it any time. Very nice!

Thanks for the feedback Micaela. I like your idea that there is a sense of spring as well as birds. Thanks for taking time to comment as it is appreciated and constructive. I enjoy your paintings and hope to keep seeing more in the future.

Swallows? Oh, you are so lucky, then the spring is here to stay, huh?
Not that far yet over here, but yesterday I heard arriving whooper swans, that was quite lovely to hear too! 🙂

Marie, unfortunately that photo was from last spring. Winter is still hanging on strongly here but I don’t mind because the sun is out even though it is cold.

Well, then you are in the same situation that I am in, having to consult the archives….
I don’t like it at all, but it is better than nothing… So boring right now…
I really long for spring now, or at least some life in the light…
Have a wonderful weekend Mike! And wish for some sunshine!! 🙂

I don’t mind consulting the archives as in many cases I have not yet worked through those photos yet. The perils of digital…too many photos?

Love the photo, Mike. The feedback about black and white and Springtime feel is correct. It is an interesting twist to beautifully colored and delicate birds that makes this photo quite interesting.
