It is hard to believe but when we started this walk in the early evening it was snowing like crazy so we decided to leave the good camera inside for a change and just to out and enjoy the snowy weather. Low and behold near the end of the walk it cleared a bit and we were reward with a wonderful show. As the sun went over the hill west of upper geyser basin it light up the clouds in the eastern sky which then reflected into the geyser pools. Glad we still had our phones in our pockets. Upper Geyser Basin, Yellowstone National Park.

Thats a great shot. Beautiful light and the texture in the sky mirrors the texture below. Very cool!

Thanks, it was a really cool evening and we were lucky to just get out into it. The amazing thing was how the reflections were bouncing all over the place from sky to ground and from west to east. Hope your day is going great.

Mike,
Such a soft and subdued photograph! This is REAL photography, not only “showing” but helping those who see the photo FEEL deeply as well. Lovely beyond expression!

Hi Melissa, I was sure glad we carried our phones and this sunset was such a feast as well as a surprise. You just never know what will happen when you get out and go for a walk and a walk in yellowstone is never boring.

Thanks, it was one of those almost surreal sunsets. Especially since a half hour prior it was snowing hard. Hope you are having a great weekend and thanks for taking time to give a little feedback..much appreciated.

Yellowstone was by far my favourite National Park. We had the pleasure of visiting it couple of years ago, the wildlife, the hydrothermal features, the geology and the history were all so fascinating.
It’s a beautiful sunset Mike. Proving again that the best camera is the one you have with you.

Thanks, we never have a bad time in yellowstone, especially in the winter when it is very quiet. It was a great sunset and quite a surprise given how hard it was snowing just 30 minutes earlier and I was happy to be able to capture it and yes, the best camera is the one in you have with you. 🙂
Have a great weekend.
