A beautiful Magpie looking out into the just greening grasslands of the prairies of Eastern Colorado on an early spring day.

    1. Hi, for me it has been hit or miss with the magpies in our area. SO are very accepting of having their photos taken and like others know when you are even thinking about it. Thanks again and have a wonderful weekend.

        1. Hello Evgeny, you have a beautiful collection of photos on your site. Where do you take most of your photos? I have never visited the rain forests of the world but you r photos are an inspiration to someday get to one. Thanks for shown gem what is there in the meantime.

  1. I’ve been curious about magpies since reading about them in a (now forgotten) children’s book, but I have yet to see one in person
Thanks for sharing the lovely image

    1. Thanks David, I really like the brightness of the Magpies colts in contrast to the somewhat muted early spring grass. Hope your day is going well and wishing you faun filled weekend.

    1. Hi Eliza, you have a keen eye. The contrast is what I really liked about this photo op. The Magpie was colorful and a brilliant blue whereas the landscape seems to just be waking from winter and is a bit monotone but not colorless.

    Hi!

    Beautiful shot!

I have magpies nesting outside my bedroom window here on Exmoor, UK. I am woken most mornings by their chattering as they bounce across my roof.

They hold a special place in my heart, as we raised one at home from a baby when we were children – her name was Maggie and she was with us two years before flying free.

    They are stunning birds.

    1. HI, that is a great story and I bet Maggie was as smart as a crow or raven and that must have been a treat to experience. In our area they are just now beginning to build their nests which are fascinating ball like structures and fairly large. It is fun when we are able to watch them carrying sticks back to their nest for construction before the leaves fill in and the nest is obscured. Thanks for sharing that story and I wish you the best of weekends.
