We could hear this raven cawing, cackling and making a variety of gurgling sounds as we skied towards Black Sand Basin. When we finally met up with her she was perched in an old tree decorated with lichen and moss just as a slight snow flurry began to interrupt an otherwise monotone grey and overcast day. It’s always fun to follow the call of a Raven. Yellowstone, NP.

That distinctive ‘Cronk!’ always makes me smile when I hear it. They are highly social birds, which naturally we find fascinating. 🙂

I am such a sucker for Ravens. I follow my local crows every day but ravens don’t just happen here in the lowlands. Then you not only show my black friends but you do it in a most beautiful way. Lots of stars and kudos!! r

Thanks, both crows and ravens are so much fun to observe. Last night on a walk we watched as the crows gathered for the evening in the trees down the street. Maybe 50 total cawing and talking . Hope your day is going well.
