I just stood at my window yesterday (northern Calif.) listening to the western tanager, always hopeful to see a flash of the beautiful breeding bird. Your photo here captures him well, Mike~~

This is a gorgeous little bird. Recently I saw a cerulean warbler–had never seen one–and so wish I’d had a camera with me!

We saw one here at our place (on Gabriola Island, BC) the other day, for the first time which was very exciting. Gorgeous bird!
