With Coyotes on the prowl in the Grasslands and Great Horned Owls in the Trees nearby this Rabbit hunkers down in a small depression to survey the scene before scurrying off to into the cover of the surrounding shrubs.

This year winter has yet to really visit me or I to visit it.
Bad timing with the jet stream, el nino, global warming or just too much time at work?
Anyway, I just felt the need needed to post a bit of winter today before it has gone for good, well at least this year.

Both this Male House Finch and I are happy to see the return of morning light. It is nice to have a few minutes of sunshine before scurrying off to work. Me to the office and the Finch to the feeder across the year. Too bad it is short lived as we switch to daylight savings time this weekend just as the daylight comes.
Although the sky was clear and blue above the morning mist hung heavy on this marsh just off the shores of the Pacific Ocean making for a quiet morning walk. Knowing that the sun would shine and the mist would clear was a nice addition to the day.
The sky speaks of summer, the wind blows hard and cold and the landscape longs for the snows that have yet to arrive.
The time between winter and spring suggests there are more than four seasons.

As we roll into March the ducks that overwinter on our ponds and rivers are quickly moving back to their summer breeding grounds. How quickly the seasons change and time marches on.
Late one night winters breath blew and gave us the snow.
In the morning spring awoke bringing us sun and warmth.
When winter meets spring is a fine time of year.
Sitting high in a frosty tree top keeping a lookout or so it seems. The male Red Winged Blackbirds are back in the area. They have yet to descend to the cattails surrounding the local marsh and are hanging out high in the tree tops perhaps to get that first view of when the ladies return.
