Nice reflection. Our wrens have been quiet lately. They’ve raised their brood. They all seem to be out foraging instead of singing at the wren house by our deck.
HI Jim, the small forests near our house are going through the same disappointing change. All is quiet and nary a bird to be seen on our morning walks. I still hear the Jays squawking and perhaps a single wren but silence has taken over.
HI Jim, yes in the mountain east of the continental divide the lodgepole pines have been devastated. The forest is either 60-70 dead or cleared. Either way it is a very different ecosystem. Aspen are starting to move in where the pines have been lost in some places and another young trees have been starting to regrow.
Beautiful…

Have you lost a lot of trees to the beetles? Changing habitat?
