Hi Eliza, they do really brighten a winters day and they keep busy all day at the feeders. Usually picking up one seed at a time then zooming off to feat on them.
I recently learned why they fly off and don’t stay to feed like finches. They can’t grind a seed open, so must place it between their feet to pry it open by hammering on it. All that flying back and forth never made sense to me before, now it does. 🙂
