More like waiting it out in this case.
On nice sunny days we see these male White Crowned Sparrows perched and singing away with away with vigor. However this time, although tolerant of the steady rain, this guy had his when is this going to end face on as we both sat and watched the rain come down this afternoon.
nature has no boss 
It looks like he is wearing a tiny bicycle helmet.

It does take practice getting to identify birds by sound especially if you are more visual than auditory in nature.
