Red Breasted Nuthatch

On a cloudy winter day we watched as this little Red Breasted Nuthatch would stealthily sneak into the bird feeder while the flocks of sparrows and finches had their backs turned and quickly grab a seed.

She then spent much more time searching for that perfect hiding spot than spent getting the seed. Once a seed was hidden she would dart back in and repeat the process.

  1. Walking My Path: Mindful Wanderings in Nature

One of my favorite birds, although we don’t see them as much as we used to, sadly.
We still have white breasted and pygmies. Beautiful, clear shot.

    1. Hello and good morning, they are slap one of my favorites both when i see them or just to listen to in the tress nearby. We also have the white breasted but not the pygmies. It is neat to be able to hear the small difference in vocalizations between the two species.

feedback welcome
