Frenemy….a person with whom one is friendly despite a fundamental dislike or rivalry.
Meet our new friend..a small Red Squirrel. Compared to the Grey Squirrels we are used to he is tiny yet just as feisty and shall I say squirrel like. Cute enough to be a friend but squirrel enough to be an enemy.
Only time will tell.

Is it a new arrival to the area?

In essence we are just as much guests of his and hope he is enjoying us as well. He is a cute guy, fun to watch and compared to the gray squirrels a real fine fellow.

We have a small squirrel of a different species here in British Columbia that has to have its own feeder because if we don’t provide him/her with one, (s)he will chew the cords on the hanging feeders until they fall to the ground and spill their contents. Now that (s)he’s been accommodated, the only issue is ensuring there are always seeds in this special cup, or the cords get chewed and we’re hauling out ladders and rehanging the feeders all over again. Lovely photo!

Luckily we have our feeders hung with chains. š
Giving him a special feeder might be a nice thing to do and perhaps he would not try to chase off the birds from the trees in which our feeders currently hang.

I like its little ear tufts. They are cute, but…yup, that’s the frenemy part.

The ear tufts do add to his cuteness but once a squirrel always a squirrel. Have a wonderful weekend.

I love red squirrels. Cute picture, Mike. I bet you end up loving him (her).

We shall see about that. She was running around wildly yesterday trying to displace birds from a tree in which there is a feeder. When I went out to ask him to share with the birds he just gave me the tail wagging noisemaking thing squirrels do.
