Any idea which flycatcher? Not sure where you are in the country, or I’d get out my guide…That big ol’ eye ring seems like a good clue.

Hi Kit, this photo was taken in Montana. We suspect it to be either a Hammond’s or Least Flycatcher but are not 100% certain. Let me know what you think.

Wow, it’s hard to tell. I’m leaning towards Hammond’s mainly because of the primary projection (which is on the long side, compared with Least). Of course, these things are really hard to tell from just one photo. Hearing them sing can be a big help, but they don’t do that this time of year!
