Ratibida columnifera, aka Mexican Hats, is a native wildflower that is both drought tolerant a wonder to look at. Plus it makes a great place for a Skipper Butterfly to take a little siesta.
Happy Friday and have a wonderful weekend.

Your welcome and it is indeed a festive flower that brightens our August when things dry up around here.

These guys showed up in my yard a couple years ago (desert near ABQ) and I love them and they have been coming back and spreading a little each year. I had one this year that is yellow rather than the red/orange that most seem to be. Are they cousins to coneflowers?

HI and thanks, we have several plants that are just the plain yellow one growing in our yard. They are also called Mexican Hats but also cut-leaf coneflowers or prairie coneflowers. Wishing you a great weekend.

HI Adam, probably not a flower that thrives up in your neck of the woods I suspect. They like it day and enjoy it warm and sunny. Enjoy your weekend as well.

Hi Eliza, we lalso like that about them as well. They last quite awhile and bloom in August in our yard when things dry up and are hard to keep alive.
