We sat and watched this Green Heron as they slowly moved along the river bank and while we could see them they maintained constant cover in a tangle of dead branches and roots. After about 20 minutes they flew out into the open and landed on this tangle of roots in the river.
Amazing birds in that they can use tools to catch fish.
That would be something amazing to see and something to keep an eye out for next time you spend some time observing one.
nature has no boss 
I love these birds and did not know they were so resourceful!

This is an amazing looking bird. I did not know it used tools the way crows do! I think our animal brethren are much smarter than we give them credit for.

Nice composition with that gorgeous heron on the tangle of branches! I’ve read about that tool behavior but so far have not witnessed it.

It has been a good weekend, thanks, although somewhat disconcerting with new announcements and preparations for the virus. It feels somewhat like getting ready for a hurricane, then you wait. Hoping all is well with you both!
