Farewell Spring
The early bloomers have gone to seed and the grassing is growing ever taller. Farewell spring and hello summer.
We have had a nice cool and wet spring but… Shazam…just like that, the furnace has been turned on with temperatures in the upper 90’s this weekend. Summer has arrived.
The Road Less Traveled
An afternoon storm approaching as we drive on a very narrow backroads path somewhere near the Wyoming/Colorado border.
Weekends are the time to get off the beaten path and explore something new. Walk a different route or drive a country road. The Journey is the destination and you can’t get lost when you are already there. Have a great weekend.
Wabbit
Spring time is Rabbit time. Last weekend we saw plenty of healthy rabbits roaming the sagebrush and grasslands of the Arapahoe Wildlife Refuge as well as plenty of Hawks looking for an easy meal. Luckily for this guy he stayed on guard and was reluctant to stray too far from the cover of the sage.

Hidden away in the grass there are many things to discover. A diverse ecosystem that supports so much life. Out in the grasslands of southern Wyoming.
In a Flooded Meadow
A few lone lodgepole pines happily reflecting in a flooded meadow as the sun sets along the Noris River in Yellowstone National Park. The grass below will be happy this year.

In Plain Sight
Sometimes things are hidden in plain sight. While on a hike on a busy forest trail we ran across this beautiful Barred Owl sitting in plain sight only a few feet off the trail and perched low in a tree. Innumerable hikers walked right past without noticing. Even when we stopped to take a few photos only a few folks stopped to ask what we were photographing.
