While out at a local lake on our kayaks we were treated to a very unexpected sight…a mink hunting crawfish. This guy/gal was working the shoreline and caught at least two crawfish while we watched from out in the lake on our kayaks. We had no idea mink lived along the shores of this lake and have never seen one before. Another reminder that those little moments sure can make your day.

Super baby bunny

Wait, whats that rustling in the bushes.
A bird..no
A mouse…no
It’s super baby bunny!
Smaller than a squirrel yet bigger than a mouse with quadruple the cuteness of both. Mightily hopping onto rocks and eating every plant that gets in their way.
Super baby bunny brings brightness to start the day.
Have a wonderful weekend.
Into the sunset

Two mule deer fawns head off into the sunset through fields of sunflowers and balsam root with grasses just tall enough to easily slip out of sight when need be. They were not alone this evening as Mom was just ahead leading and teaching these two little ones the ways of Mule Deer life as they quietly slipped off into the sunset.
Young Buck

He made it through a long cold winter safe and sound now with antlers growing fast and wrapped in a velvet coat. A young White-tailed Deer makes his way through the forest aware and quietly as he can.
Just around the corner

Just around the corner a beautiful cinnamon colored black bear glances over to say hello.
Busted

The looks says it all. This Jay had his back to me so I was trying to sneak up on him and focus on his very colorful tail feathers. Needless to say he was on to me.
For the next couple of weeks we will be posting some of our favorite posts from the past as we take a small respite from the digital world.
Winter Bunn

Standing tall, our trusty winter companion named Bunn, a Mountain Cottontail (Sylvilagus nuttallii), scans the surroundings for hints danger or perhaps where to head for her next meal. Bunn typically spends her day feeding on the shrubs nearby or just sitting perched upon a high snow mound.
Grazing away

A Bull Elk grazes away as we take a quick portrait an leave him to go at it. He never really looked up as eating on this winters day was more important than saying hello to a couple of photographers. He does have his priorities in order.
