It’s a curious thing..always spinning round and round on our axis… around the sun we go yet never really aware of it. For some reason this small snippet of landscape reminded me we are indeed moving along in a circular path and it’s always nice to be reminded of how things are.
From fast to slow and fast again the river moves along.
Saying hello to rocks and trees and singing a rivers song.
On a quiet day the river fell yet flowed ever on.
Watching the earth breath in and out reminds me that this system is alive.
Alive in a way we might not fully understand as the pieces and connections are known yet the interactions a complex.
We have the knowledge yet lack the understanding or so it seems.
How to make it understood is a question we seem to struggle with. Perhaps seeing and observing can help in some way soften the mind to consider complex ideas and then understanding will follow. Time spent just looking is thus time well spent.

A Lesser Yellowlegs foraging in a temporary pond alongside a county road in Eastern Colorado last spring. I sure wish we would get some snow soon as without it winter feels like a strange spring that lacks the birds and has short days.
With the sun just rising in the east the aptly named Roaring Mountain gave us a little talking to one fall morning.
It was a short and pleasant chat with someone speaking a language easily understood.
I have noticed that each fall I end up taking a few shots of milk weed and always say to myself that next fall I need to make a dedicated effort to photograph this wonderful plant. The same happened again this year.
Along the Firehole River seasons pass faster than the river seems to flow.
Snow now cloaks the valley.
A little inspiration provided by a silent yet strong tree growing in the barren dry hills of western Colorado near the Utah border. When the going gets tough the tough keep growing.
Even with shrinking daylight hours and more cloud than sun in the sky there is always beauty to be found on a hike through the woods.
Along the trail on a silent hike the digitalis were ringing strong.
