Female Yellowthroat
We spotted this Female Common Yellowthroat quickly moving in and out of the bushes while on a morning walk. While we most often see the males perched out in the open singing we very rarely have seen the female out in the open like this. She only stayed for a minute or two then flew off into a marshy area several hundred yards away.
Rise and shine

Warm summer sun illuminating the electric blue of the Penstemon welcome a Prairie Dog to this fine summer day.
Time to rise and to shine on this fine summer day.
Have a wonderful weekend.
Mighty Mink
While out at a local lake on our kayaks we were treated to a very unexpected sight…a mink hunting crawfish. This guy/gal was working the shoreline and caught at least two crawfish while we watched from out in the lake on our kayaks. We had no idea mink lived along the shores of this lake and have never seen one before. Another reminder that those little moments sure can make your day.
Whispers in green

Yellow whispers in a big old sea of green.
That is what this Yellow Columbine felt like on a recent hike into the forests nearby. A rainier than typical spring and early summer has the forest looking green as green can be and even a large patch of Columbine growing strong could only mustard a whisper in that sea of green yet sometimes a whispers is all you need.

Warm Welcome
A Black Capped Chickadee bringing a warm welcome to this mid-summer day.
Super baby bunny

Wait, whats that rustling in the bushes.
A bird..no
A mouse…no
It’s super baby bunny!
Smaller than a squirrel yet bigger than a mouse with quadruple the cuteness of both. Mightily hopping onto rocks and eating every plant that gets in their way.
Super baby bunny brings brightness to start the day.
Have a wonderful weekend.
