Ruminators ruminate and I bet this American Bison was ruminating on the thought of springs arrival.
Yellowstone National Park.
I am not sure if all the grazers had full bellies and were spending the afternoon ruminating or they were saving all their energy to make it past the extended winter but last week was fill with sleepy heads. From the Elk to the Big Horn Sheep napping or just taking it easy seemed to be the order of the day.
There is no doubt spring is here when you are awoken at 5:00am by a chorus of Robins singing outside your bedroom window. It is a wonderful sound, unless of course you were planning to sleep in that day or by chance you get a Robin who can’t sing so sweet and decides your chimney is the place to be, as we did a few years ago.

Well it’s April 2nd so it can’t be a joke. The flakes keep flying as winter marches on.
Although it is a beautiful way to start the week if I do say so myself.
With the weather this last week going from shirt sleeves and short to gore-tex and boots in the course of a single day this Prairie dog asks the question is it spring yet?
Although I like the unpredictability of it all it sure was nice sitting on the patio with the afternoon sun warming my bones the other day.
Is it spring yet?
