A quiet river speaking loudly in the Thorsmork valley, Iceland.
The summer heat and a big yard project has me feeling a bit like this pup that left its pen in the town of Tasiilaq and followed our group on a very long demanding hike. Near the end of the hike we had to negotiate a cliff band which left this pup with a long walk back to town in the other direction. Don’t worry he had a experienced older sibling along and I am sure they easily made it back, albeit a bit more tired than in the photo. Tasiilaq, East Greenland.

When the weather turns nice everyone goes out for a walk and it is a nice spring day today.

Sumac buds busting out to meet the sun after a light dusting of snow the previous evening. Today it feels like spring is here to stay.

Yesterday’s weather started with rain which then progressed into snow. The result this morning is a beautiful blue sky and a nice inch or so of wonderful white on the ground which will be gone in a few hours. A great way to start off a new week.

A visual reminder. Yellowstone National Park.

The end of the semester is a hectic time for a college professor…why did I assign all those research papers? No time for complicated photography but the iPhone is always handy in the pocket and yes..it is Friday and it is going to be OK.

Thanksgiving is a simple holiday, gather with family and friends and enjoy the day with good food. It really is the simple things I am most thankful for. My wonderful wife Christy, family, a beautiful hiking trail full of wonders and time spent outdoors. Happy Thanksgiving to everyone, everywhere.
