After the snowmelt
Looking west while heading towards Sepulcher Mountain Trail in Yellowstone NP. The snow has melted from down low and spring storms are heading in from the west to help green up the grasses. Things are falling into place.

Silhouetted
A Young Bald Eagle chirping away is silhouetted against the grey sky of an overcast day along the snake river in Grand Teton National Park. Happy Friday.
Tule Elk in Fog
Tule elk grazing away on a day the fog was as thick as soup. When driving by these guys they were barely perceivable yet less than 50 ft from the road. The fog did provide good cover for photography though. Point Reyes National Seashore, Ca.
Spring
The grass is not green but the cumulus clouds are back. Spring is here.
Yellow Bellied Sap Sucker
We followed this guy around in very dark pine forest while on a hike in Yellowstone National Park for quite some time before he finally settled down for a little break. Luckily he chose a spot where just enough light was getting in through the trees to get a somewhat decent photograph of this wonderful looking bird. It was the first time we had seen a Yellow Bellied Sap Sucker and hopefully not the last.

Ute Canyon
Ute canyon was still dressed in the fabric of winter while we were hiking in t-shirts and shorts on an unseasonable warm and absolutely wonderful March morning. The sky was the bluest of blue and the canyon walls a wonderful red while the grass remained a winters brown. Ute Canyon, Colorado National Monument.

fra·cas- a noisy disturbance or quarrel.
That describes the behavior of these two Sandhill Cranes along the banks of the Snake River in Grand Teton National Park to a tee. They were squawking and jumping up and down and running along the bank as only Sandhill Cranes can do.
