Perched in the willows along a mountain lake a White-crowned Sparrow enjoys the autumn sunrise. Photographed over two months ago yet it feels like just yesterday.
D0 you ever get the feeling that time sure seems to speed along at different rates sometime slow and sometimes fast yet always marching on?

Peeking in on a well hidden Bull and Cow elk who were enjoying a bit of afternoon sunshine in the golden fall fields. Those warming rays must fell darn good these days as nights have gotten colder than normal these last few weeks.
Still dressed in their summer coat this Ermine was doing what Ermines do. Looking and running and looking and running over here, over there just about everywhere in search of their next meal. Because an Ermine has such a long slender body and high metabolism they rapidly loose body heat needing a fairly constant caloric input. This means an Ermine needs to eat about 75% of their body weight in food every day. Thus they spend most of their waking hours in search of the next meal.
Anything over there?
When the hunting is good Ermines store food in their dens for the lean times.

Just about now this guy should have changed into their winter coat of pure white except for that black-tip on the tail. Seeing them bounding through the snow on a snowy winter day is a sight we look forward to.
Getting three out of four family members to cooperate for a portrait is not too bad.

This little Chipmunk scrambled up the log next to where we were eating dinner a few weeks ago and seemingly asked the question….What’s for dinner? Although no meal was provided, at least for him, he was more than happy to provide his company that evening.
Many, if not most, of the photographs we post on this site and much of the the enjoyment we get from being part of nature is the result of the extensive network of public lands we as Americans possess. These lands have always been and are currently under attack. The Film Public Trust is worth watching and one we hope you will pass along to others.
